Misal Pav is a popular Maharashtrian street food consisting of spicy sprouted beans (misal) served with a soft pav (bread roll). It’s a flavorful, tangy, and hearty dish, often topped with crispy farsan, onions, and a squeeze of lemon for added zest. Ingredients
    For Misal Masala
  • 1/4 cup Dry Coconut Roughly Chopped
  • 7-8 no. Cloves
  • 7-8 no. Black Pepper
  • 1/2 tsp Fenugreek Seed
  • 1 no. Mace
  • 2 stick Cinnamon
  • 1 no. Star Anise
  • 7-8 no. Dry Kashmiri Red Chilli
  • 1 tsp Fennel Seed
  • 1 tsp Cumin
  • 2 tbsp Coriander Seed
  • 1 tbsp White Sesame Seed
  • For Misal Boiling
  • 1/2 cup Turkish Gram (Mooth Beans) (Soaked for 4-5 hours)
  • 1/4 cup Moong Beans (Soaked for 4-5 hours)
  • 1/4 cup Pea Beans (Soaked for 4-5 hours)
  • 1 tsp Salt
  • 1/2 tsp Turmeric Powder
  • 2 cup Water
  • For Misal
  • 3 tbsp Oil
  • 1/2 tsp Mustard Seed
  • 1/2 tsp Cumin
  • 1/4 tsp Asafoetida
  • 1/2 inch Ginger (Grated)
  • 1 tsp Turmeric Powder
  • 1 cup Tomato (FInely Chopped)
  • 2 tsp Kashmiri Red Chilli Powder
  • 1 tsp Coriander Powder
  • 1/2 tsp Garam Masala
  • 3 tbsp Misal Masala
  • as per taste Salt
  • 4 cup Hot Water
  • handful Fresh Coriander (Finely Chopped)
  • Misal Serving

Instructions
  1. For Misal Masala

    To make misal masala, we will first roast a little dry coconut in a pan. After that add black pepper, cloves, fenugreek seeds, mace, cinnamon, star anise and roast for 2-3 minutes.

    After that, add dry red chillies, fennel seeds, cumin seeds and sesame seeds and roast again for 2-3 minutes. And keep it in a plate to cool.

    Once all the roasted spices cool down, fine crush them in a mixer.

  2. For Misal Boiling

    In a cooker, add 2 cups of water to soaked mooth beans, mung beans and peas, add salt and turmeric and cook for 2 whistles.

  3. For the Misal

    Now add oil to a pan, when it gets hot, add mustard seed, cumin and asafoetida. Also add turmeric, ginger and chopped tomato. Let the tomato cook a little. Then add Kashmiri red chillies, Misal Masala and salt. Mix it well. and cook for 3-4 minutes.

    After that add hot water and let it boil for 5 minutes. And lastly garnish with chopped coriander.

  4. Serve Misal

    Our tasty Misal is ready. Serve hot with chiwala, chopped tomato and laddi pav.
